Home Workers Do Business in Their Pyjamas

Ever wished that you could just stay in your soft pyjamas rather than heave yourself into a tight, uncomfortable suit? Well, you’re not alone. But it seems many home workers have adopted their pj’s as their official uniform.

A recent survey has discovered that many people who choose to work from home do so in their pyjamas, or even from the bathroom, pub or local café.

The survey, undertaken by Nectar Business found that 8 per cent of women never manage to get changed, choosing to stay in their nightwear all day from breakfast right through to bedtime.

Unsurprising for some, 27 per cent of people surveyed made the naughtier admission that they have held a business call while they were in the bath, four out of ten admit that they use “working from home” to catch up with household chores and 39 per cent of people have taken a business call whilst out with friends at a bar, pub or café.

Despite the air of ‘slacking’ that wafts around this discovery, the choice of loungewear rather than office duds is hardly shocking. Is it really any wonder we choose to stay in our pyjamas as much as possible, whenever possible? I would hazard to guess that you’d be hard pushed to find anyone dressed before 11 on their days off (parent excluded).

With their soft, warm and cozy fabrics, pyjamas are the perfect outfit to work in. No more stuffy suits, tight collars or stiff skirts. In our pj’s we’re free to concentrate on the work at hand, rather than worrying if our shirts creased and scruffy.

The survey did suggest that for all the slackers, there was a handful that insisted on keeping up with office etiquette. One in ten men, who worked from home, said they did so in a suit and tie. Each to their own I guess.
